hi!
I have a big problem with MP3s (podcasts) which I'd like to re-encode to
a lower bitrate.
here is the rss address of the podcast :
http://www.europe1.fr/podcast/c_est_arrive.jspWhen I try to re-encode them, lame crashes everytime !
I even tried different versions of lame but it didn't solve the problem.
What can I do about it please?
LAME crashes because of hardware problems. Make sure your pc/laptop is not overheating etc.

I can guarantee that this is not because of hardware.
I can transcode mp3s from other podcasts without any problem.
There is something inside those mp3s that makes lame crash.
It is necessary to provide ALL the additional information if you want to get technical support. Error codes, crashlogs, screenshots, operating system version, what you've been doing when the program crashed etc.

my software setup normally works fine but it crashes only with these
MP3s so I guess they are somehow corrupted.
I'm using frontah with lame 3.97, win XP pro SP2.

How long are the podcasts you're trying to transcode? It may be that, as Egor already said, your system is crashing while trying to process a long file. This could be due to PSU limitations, RAM problems, etc, etc, etc....

My mistake !
Frontah with lame 3.97 doesn't crash when encoding these files.
In fact it crashes when I use it with lame 3.89.
I've tried fontah with many different lames and I made a confuson with the .exe files.
So everything should be fine now.
Thanks for the replies !
