Hello.
I know that these are forums related to audio, but I feel far more comfortable asking questions here than anywhere else. So, here it goes...

I have been given a new laptop (Dell Latitude D830) for use in office. We develop software on the Linux platform and we have a (now expired) subscription for Redhat Enterprise Linux 4.

When I tried to install Linux on this laptop, Linux complained that it couldn't see my SATA hard drive. I searched on the web and discovered that an updated version of 'ata_piix' drivers are required for Linux to work with this specific SATA controller. I found the updated drivers from the Dell website, but they want me to create a driver disk on a floppy disk and use it during installation. The problem is that my laptop has no floppy drive and I need to do this via USB. Can someone please tell me how one goes about doint that?

The real problem is that my manager wants me to use RHEL4 and not RHEL5 which supports this controller out-of-the-box. Hence, I have no option but to somehow make this work or to continue using my old, slow computer. Can someone please help me with this? Thanks.
