I am new at putting together a library. WMP took over my library and messed up my album art and places a bunch of hidden files in each folder.

I DO know how to make WMP stop doing this, but I don't know how to fix the problem (other than unhiding the hidden files and deleting them one by one). Is there an easier way of undoing WMP's havok? Is there a way to copy my library to a new location and leave behind the hidden files or am I going to have to go through each individual folder and delete each individual hidden file. That would take literally all day. mad.gif

Maybe this will help - stopped WMP and VMCE resizing my album art anyway. A small drawback is having to run the program every time I add to the media library, but it's worth it to stop my anally, sorry, painfully acquired album art from being beaten down to 200x200...

I think you don't need to delete each hidden file individually. IMO it is much easier to use Windows search over the entire library (to do this you should search for *.ext where "ext" is an extention of your hidden files). Once search finds all hidden files you can just delete them directly from search window.

Of course, you need to unhide the hidden files before doing the procedure described above.

Ahhh... that looks like an answer I was hoping for.

Unfortunately I'm doing something wrong. Please view the screenshots I have attached. When I search for *.ext nothing comes up.

Example of hidden files in one of my folders:

My Search:

I tried to search for "*.ext" (without the quotes) under the options "all or part of the file name" and "A word or phrase in the file". Came up empty both times. As you can see by the first screenshot, I have my hidden files "unhidden".

Thanks for your help. I'll take a little more please.

I don't think Irakli meant literally to search for *.ext, but to search for the extension of the files you want to delete. It appears that they are of type *.jpg so you should probably search instead for AlbumArt*.

OK I got it. That will take care of most of it... Thanks!

Is there a way to search/reveal hidden files only? Since some of my folder.jpg files are mine (and not hidden) and some of the folder.jpg files are imported from WMP and are hidden.

ahh... never mind. I see now that when you do the search, the hidden files are still dimmed so I can tell the difference between hidden and not hidden.

Thanks so much for your help guys!

@demkun - thanks for the link to your utility. I'll have a close look at it.
