I DO know how to make WMP stop doing this, but I don't know how to fix the problem (other than unhiding the hidden files and deleting them one by one). Is there an easier way of undoing WMP's havok? Is there a way to copy my library to a new location and leave behind the hidden files or am I going to have to go through each individual folder and delete each individual hidden file. That would take literally all day.

I think you don't need to delete each hidden file individually. IMO it is much easier to use Windows search over the entire library (to do this you should search for *.ext where "ext" is an extention of your hidden files). Once search finds all hidden files you can just delete them directly from search window.
Of course, you need to unhide the hidden files before doing the procedure described above.

Ahhh... that looks like an answer I was hoping for.
Unfortunately I'm doing something wrong. Please view the screenshots I have attached. When I search for *.ext nothing comes up.
Example of hidden files in one of my folders:

http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/4972/seaarchaq1.pngI tried to search for "*.ext" (without the quotes) under the options "all or part of the file name" and "A word or phrase in the file". Came up empty both times. As you can see by the first screenshot, I have my hidden files "unhidden".
Thanks for your help. I'll take a little more please.
