Hi. I have a removable drive where i keep all my music.
Is there a way to save the contents of my music under the media library, and when i remove the drive and rescan the library, that contentt isn't lost?.
Thanks.

Avoid full library rescans, but selectively rescan your other music folders from the preferences when required.

I'm not sure this would get rid of dead media within those folders, will it?
Personally I just keep 2 copies of fb2k - one for local and the other one for local+mediadrive, but that's a big compromise, and highly unsophisticated.
Any better idea would be more than welcome.

You can always select the appropriate node in album list (when viewing in folder view) and removing dead entries within that particular node.

Rescan is a bit trickier, but in general, readding that particular folder as opposed to using the "rescan" option would have the desired result.

Is not planned to add a feature that can detect when a hd is removable and not erase his content from the media library? and detect when the disc is present and then yes, make the synchronization.

I have the same setup with an external drive.
ATM I don't have the music folder on the external in the library, I would like to have a second library though. One for my local hd and one for my external.
(But I aren't desperate enough to keep and care for two foobar installations).

I understand this would be a large change with several libraries, but at the same time it would be a step forward if you ask me...

Maybe facets is something you could use for this? Put an extra tag called DRIVE in all your tracks on the removable drive called removable drive or something like that, and harddrive in your harddrive files. Make a facet of the tag %drive%. When the drive is hooked you can select all, when the drive isn't hooked you select harddrive in your first or 2nd facet.

Works like a charm! (tried with 2 albums, but works of course with all)

This is my way from some time, and I haven't got problems till now.
Sometimes I rescan the external drive, if I know that contents are changed.

Except for us that don't use facets. Or don't want any extra fuzz that isn't important to the track in the tags =P

If you don't want to use tags, just use facets with the "path" (or album list in the "directory structure" mode).
