Want to fill up a 16GB SDHC card with V0 mp3s, for my D2 player.

My library is 95% FLAC & well-tagged.

ATM I have a playlist of over 1000 songs, which would be ideal to convert...roughly 1600 is 16GB. I'd love to turn them into mp3s, maintaining their folder structure/tagging & cover.jpg...so after I'd be left with a new top folder full of mp3s within and my FLAC library untouched.

I know foobar would probably do this, but never tried.

So, how would I go about doing this?

OGG Vorbíi have a nasty habit of data corruption in large amounts.

ctrl+a your playlist (select all files) rightclick en go to convert files. Choose mp3 vbr v0 from the list. Point to lame.exe if foobar asks for it and choose a destinationfolder.

When the complete conversion is done, your mp3files are all in one folder, numbered 1 to 1000. Make sure you have your tracknumbers tagged right before you convert, so now you can select all mp3's in a playlist en rename them, the original tracknumber will come back in the filename, if you choose a syntax with tracknumber in it.

Now choose file operations, move files to folder of choice and artist - album namingscheme or whatever. Foob will make new folders based on your artist and albumtags, and moves all mp3's into their corresponding folder.

Last part: covers aren't replaced/moved around automatically. you have to do that by hand or a script.

Eehhh.
I imagine -v4 or -v5 would be acceptable on a portable that's going to be used in noisy environments.
And would give him some more music, considering the filesizes would be smaller.

He'd have to do blind listening tests to know what's best for him, though, of course.

He's talking about v0 himself so i stated that, but i agree with you. for a portable plaer v0 is a lot of bits

Got a D2 & Audio-Technica ATH-ESW9s.

Found a better way for foobar to do it.

In the single file box in 'converter', enter title-formatting of how you'd like the file-structure, i.e. '%artist%\%album%\%title%'

This'd be: Iron Maiden\Killers\Wrathchild

Then convert file/s as you normally would, the place where the converted files went would be the top folder.
