Do not test cache feature with EAC itself, use Feurio! Demo instead.

EAC's test for caching is highly unreliable, which is known for long but still not mentioned at http://www.daefeatures.co.uk/faq.php#test — in fact, all test results for e.g. HL-DT-ST (LG) drives are incorrect in that they claim those drives would not cache audio data while they do indeed cache 37kB of it.

To reliably test a drive's caching functionality one should use a Demo of Feurio! which is also able to test how much audio data the drive actually caches.

Still not mentioned? You've only just bothered to reply to my question over at daefeatures, today, after a few months. I was unwilling to make the change just because someone asked for it, I wanted more information and I simply don't have the time to do everything I'd like (with regards to research).

Thanks for your reply btw. smile.gif

Maybe they have since then, but a formal announcement to the board wasn't made until after these posts. wink.gif

I was recently given a link to Andre Weithoff saying that the smallest amount of data read at one time by EAC is 64 kB.

Considering the drives that are used as examples of how horrible EAC's detection feature cache less data than this, I find this type of alarmist behavior humorous.

Spring cleaning.
