Full Version: Question about the objective audio quality metric for parametric codec

Anyone knows is there any objective audio quality metric which can be applicable for the parametric codec, such as AAC+, and eAAC+.

In addition, can PEAQ be applied in the assessment for parametric codec, like HE AAC version 1 and 2?

If there are no similar experiments, anyone can tell me where I can get the reference samples and the distortions and the corresponding subjective scores? I would like to test the performance of PEAQ for HE AAC v1 and 2.

Thank you very much.

What do you mean exactly by "objective quality"?

As far as I know there is no algorithm that can tell you how a lossy encoding sounds, the only "objective quality metric" is one's ears. You can find listening tests on this site, some of them at 64kbps and 96kbps (IIRC).
