Hi everyone

Just a personnal consideration.

After a few years love period, I'm now getting more and more disappointed with Foobar.

I can't get the play_count and rating modules to work with my 0.9.5 Foobar version. That 's all I need to be happy : those 2 modules.

I already wasted a big amount of time trying to find updated modules, and trying to configure them.
No success.

I have a little baby, so I'd rather spend more time with her. I just can't spend 3 continuous hours to understand the stuff, I try from times to times, 10 minutes at a time. I just can't succeed.

And I just can't understand with, at this point, Foobar still does not include such functions.

Anyway, my question :

is there any simple mean to add a counter and a rating function, both working with tags, in Foobar ?

an alternative :

does someone has a "foobar 0.95 portable" configuration like the one I'm loocking for, and would be friendly to share it through a ZIP file ?

THANK YOU

PS
Please don't comment my choice to have the datas in tag values rather than in foobar.cfg : it's just my choice, as respectable as any other choice.

Go to preferences > default user interface > playlist view and add new columns under custom columns:

Add the following under pattern
for rating:
CODE
$pad($repeat(♥,%rating%), 5,*)

(heart and * can be replaced by symbols of your choice, depending on the font you are using)

for playcount:
%play_count%

(this works on both the database counts and ratings as of ratings and counts stored in tags.)

Thanks for your answer.

It provides the fields on the screen.

But how can I use them ? If I double click on the rating field, nothing happens.

Should it work by itself (functions included in Foobar core) or do I still need a third party module like the ones I use to have ?

Alternative : do you know any other player that includes a rating and play counter working with tags ?

It only shows them. You can set rating by using keyboardshortcuts or rightclick it. If you use the latest playback statistics then rightclick, choose playbackstatistics and tag the rating you want, or you have to install masstagger or quicktagger to apply ratings through them. I use ctrl+shift+num1 to 5 to quickly apply ratings to songs.

It would be nice if those rating stars could be clickable, other fields too... Hope developers are thinking about it smile.gif
