Hello all,
Do you know how to delete the private ID3 fields in mp3 ?
The private fields can be Windows Media Player things like :
WM/MediaClassPrimaryID
WM/MediaClassSecondaryID
WM/WMContentID
WM/UniqueFileIdentifier

There is also TXXX and UFID fields.
I don't know any MP3tag editor which can do that.

Have you already tried foobar2000's Utils > Rebuild MP3 Stream option?

I've just tried and that changes nothing blink.gif The songs have the same size after.
But I've tried "Remove tags" in Foobar2000 and that removes the Windows-Media player id3 tags but also all the others id3 tags like title, artist, trck-number...

In that case you could try this:
  • Make a copy of the files you want to adjust
  • Use foobar2000's Tagging > Remove Tags from File(s) feature
  • Load both the old (tagged) and new (untagged) files in foobar2000
  • View the properties for your tagged files and select the desired fields (Ctrl + click on the field name, for multiple fields), then right click and choose "Copy"
  • View the properties for your untagged files, then right click and choose "Paste Fields"

Thank you that's working.
But... Do you know how to do that for many files? Like a batch program ?
Because I want to delete the WMP tags in my MP3 because they are useless and I want to save some MB.

I'm not sure you'll save much space to make the effort worthwhile if saving MB is of real importance.

The method M described does work for multiple files. Just select more than one file and open the Properties dialog for them.
Note that it can be done quicker than that: copy all fields, remove tags, paste fields back, apply (no need for two instances of the Properties dialog).
