Not sure if this is the place to post this, but if anyone can offer me their advice/experience, I would appreciate it.

I have my gear on a pretty cheap rack right now (actually, two) and I'm looking to move to something more substantial. My stuff is moderately heavy - 7.1 amp is the heaviest at 75 lbs. I'm looking to support probably 5 or 6 components in one rack, totaling around 200-250 lbs., and a second, maybe 4-shelf, for lighter stuff, turntable on top. I'd like some sort of decent vibration isolation and dampening.

Not sure if this is doable in my price range. I Googled around a bit and found some great ones for $2000 or more, but I can't go nuts with the price right now, and I'm looking to keep the larger rack in the $300-$500 range, if possible.

Thanks for any guidance.

This is pretty cool - but I am not sure I am that ambitious! Plus, they recommend not using it for a turntable, which at least one of my racks would have (I saw the sand-filled box project, though). And I wonder about the overall strength? I was looking at this:

Lovan Affiniti Series

The specs say 100 lbs/shelf, which is pretty good (the wider 4-leg model supports 200 lbs/shelf). They claim to have decent sound-dampening, but it doesn't appear you can sand-fill the legs, for instance. Definitely in my price range, though.

What do you (or anyone else) think?

Thanks,
