I am going to buy an ipod and want to buy some better headphones than the ones included.
I am looking for some headphones no more than 60 Dollars.
I recently bought an in ear earphone (somewhat cheap) and did not like them. When i took em out i was like almost deaf for a while. And not too good quality. They also kept slipping off. Which was very annoyng. And earwax

So im basicly looking for primaryly some clip-on headphones or street style headphone that are good quality sound. Good quality construction. And portable.

Thanks a lot guys smile.gif !!!!!!!!!!!

I own -- and recommend -- Sennheiser PX100 or Koss KSC-75. Big sound, little $$. Both over the ear, not in-ear. But there are LOTS more possibilities.

Visit Head-Fi and HeadRoom for more advice.

I have read here about Koss PortaPro, bought them for roughly 40$ and I am still amazed of how they sound, and how comfortable they are. When you wear them, you cause nice "out of this world" effect when walking the streets smile.gif

Yeah...Koss engineered the perfect low-cost drivers a couple of decades ago and just stuck with them. I used to buy the radio-shack branded version (OEM'd) of the Koss headphones when they were on half-price sale every few years, back when they sold them via that channel.

I also own both and can recommend them as well. Very good sound quality for those prices. The PX 100 have better bass though, mostly because they are pressed onto the ears, while the KSC75 are just hanging on (if you press the KSC75 onto your ears, you can hear they're capable of similar bass).

Those seem like good headphones.

But again i am looking for portable clip-on headphones. That are durable, good quality no more than 40 dlls.

i would appreciate anybody that owns some.

As someone said before, KSC-75s are clip-on: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006B486...=cm_rdp_product

I think the KSC75 are the best choice for that "on-the-ear"-style. As i said, a bit weak with the bass, but that's the trade-off you make with that type of headphones. If you want more bass but no traditional headphones, you could look at the Sennheiser PMX 100 (not PX), they are mini-neckband type. I tried them before and they definitely have a good sound, but they became a little uncomfortable after 1 or 2 hours. Then, something i haven't tried but heard good things about are the Philips Nike SBC-HJ 080.

has anyone heard of
Philips SHS4700 Clip
?
CiTay
Never heard of it. But i think it's hard to beat the Koss KSC75 for that style of headphones.

guess so. They are like 20 dlls right?
Are they conftrable?

the only thing i dont like is how they look.

I am going to buy Sennheiser CX500 soon, they cost ~ 60 €. There is a good chance that they are actually going to be better than the much more expensive Etymotic ER-4P or Shure headphones and definetely better than the Ultimate Ears headphones.

Btw., if you are a non-placebo person and want to apply science to listening experience, have a look at these graphs:
http://www.headphone.com/technical/product.../build-a-graph/

Ultimately, the frequency response is the ONLY thing that matters, regarding the sound quality. So, if you find cheap headphones with a good frequency response (which are also comfortable, of course), take those.

Take a look at this graph, for example:

http://www.headphone.com/technical/product...pare+Headphones

One headphone is high end (Shure SE530), the other is not really high end (Sennheiser CX300 - an older version of the above mentioned headphone), but both have a similar frequency characteristic. Actually, of these two I would even prefer the cheaper headphone (the Sennheiser), because of the stronger bass and the better ultra-high frequency response (>14 Khz).

Generally, it is difficult to define what a good frequency response looks like, but strong oscillations are almost always bad. The two headphones above are still acceptable in that aspect, since it is very difficult to find headphones which are better than that.

Yes they are comfortable, as i would expect almost all clip-on headphones to be. They're lightweight and don't put any pressure on the ears.

Koss has never been big on looks, see PortaPro...

And, have you bought anything yet?

Not difficult at all, it looks like a straight horizontal line.

Yes, I did buy some clip on heaphones.
I did not like the looks on the Koss so i looked for something else.

I found this:
Sony MDR-Q68LW Clip-on Style Headphone with Retractable Cord

And tought they looked cool and were handy (retractable cord)

There are a couple of cons but they are pretty good.

You purchased a set of headphones because of how they looked, not how they sounded?

The best option for the $100 range, and in fact you can find it for $50-$60 refurbished, is the Sony MDR-V6. Not the MDR-V600(inferior unit w/similar sounding model number). The MDR-V6 is identical to the MDR-7506 except for the name plate which has the model number on it and the plug(7506 has gold plated plug).

The MDR-V6 is built with far superior construction quality than any other headphone in the 100 dollar range, and in fact, is built better than most in the $500 range: it was designed for harsh studio use conditions/abuse. It has a stainless steel headband and stainless steel pivot frames/pins at the most stressed points of band pivoting/motion and has metal alloy outer can covers; the cable is of very strong construction and has a very high quality plug designed to last for many years without failure. The cable is firmly connected to a strain relief molded insert into the can cup junction. The headband is covered with a soft padding and synthetic leather piece that is double stitched into place. The ear pads last 2-5 years, depending on use conditions, and are readily replaceable for $20 from several sources.

It has a very flat response, with some minor issues(mainly a dip around 205Hz), but more accurate than anything else I know of in the price range, and in fact, more accurate than most things that cost much more. Now, many might not like this brutal accuracy, after they realize how poor many recordings are, or they might not like the minor imperfections in response that deviate from neutral, such as the 205Hz dip which causes a slight 'hollow/tin' sound to occur in the mid-range, if compared to a reference without the dip in that spectrum.

I have compared the headphone with live sources, using dead accurate measurement mics, with me standing between the mics and listening to the live source and headphones, and the sound is nearly identical in tonality and detail/resolution. It is a very high quality monitor/tracking headphone.

I can PM you where to get these refurbed for about $55 with shipping(and under $50 shipped if you buy like 4 at a time). I don't like to post where on public boards because the website does not advertise this product in the price finding search engines, and I have been buying this model phone for a couple of years from them to give to friends/family, etc and would like my source not to run out of prouct. smile.gif
