i have scanned a album about 4 times now and each time i get different results and very slow scanning (under 10x when the laptop im using can scan mp3's at over 70x), the tracks always seem to have the same albumgain results but the trackgain keeps returning a high positive value for random tracks.

i cant seem to copy the text fom the box where you confirm that you want to apply the tags as an example of what i mean but i have never seen this on 0.9.5.2 which i use on my main pc

Peter
What file format are is your music in? Is there anything else specific about that album? Perhaps you could upload some files that you've seen this problem occur on? If you can't get a 30-second sample to comply with TOS #9, that's fine, we'll just hide the topic as soon as we see it.
Getting a high positive track gain means that the track was registered as very quiet.

You can just post a screenshot of that dialog, though that's not really necessary.

format is the files is mp3 encoded with lame 3.97 v0

sorry for not being clear about this but the problem is that it returns high (+64) trackgains for tracks that are not quiet,it only seems to do it for about half the tracks on the cd though and if i rescan different tracks have the high trackgain

how does foobars converter make previews from mp3 does it cut or reencode?
Peter
Yes, +64 means that the track was registered as silence, probably as a result of some kind of bug somewhere.
Please don't try to truncate or re-encode anything. I'd like to see a full copy of some file that triggered this issue if possible - no need to cut it to comply with forum rules. Using Converter's "Generate Previews" command would transcode a part of that file.

the first track is here i hope it helps.

Sorry for asking this stupid question. Has the posted file already a replaygain tag? In my Foobar2000 0.9.5.3 and 0.9.5.2 there is no replaygain shown in properties.

I scanned the file a few times with 0.9.5.3 there was nothing unusual.

no i scanned it 4 or 5 times but didn't apply the tag because of the incorrect results i was getting

Okay thanks for your answer. It is really wierd. I am getting the same results always -11.47. Maybe I have to scna the file more times. The speed of scanning is normal here.
landy
i have just scanned the album multiple times again and im now getting normal results like you, but the laptop im using has been restarted since i first scanned it.
Peter
Thanks for the report, I'll have a closer look at this. If the problem is gone after a restart, it would be consistent with another bug report I had from another source.
