Is anyone else noticing doubled up of not tripled memory usage of the new version of foobar compared with the previous one?
In the previous foobar I was using a max about 70 to 80 mb while playing, though now it's using up to 190 mb. That while the layout is not as fancy as it used to be (just used the quicksetup) and removed one tab with another one (playlist for album list)
Can it be this has to do with the spectrum (although when it's playing in background it's still like 140 mb)
Any suggestions are welcome.

are you sure you looked at physical memory? how much does it use if you remove the spectrum?

105, so that's much better indeed. But still, I had visuals in the previous version also...
EDIT: sorry, mixed up the visuals...it was the spectogram.

WtF?
My foobar has a memory usage just about 16-18mb (while playing).
What you've got for a pc? And how high is the usage with a fresh and clean foobar installation?

my clean 0.9.5.3 foobar has been running for several hours now on my work machine, and it's only using 13MB (Album art, album list, and spectrogram always visible).
I played with the spectrogram settings and I can get it to rise to 51MB, but that is with an FFT size of 16,384.
Are you running any plugins?

masterrossi, how large is your library? My foobar eats 3M/9M minimized/visible and 23M of virtual memory. It has albumart, facets, menubar visualisations (spectrum and peakmeter) and plugins for several file formats (ac3, ape, tak, mod, sid, dts, even midi (though I seldom play mids with foobar, that default opl synthesis sounds bad and slow like hell and I don't have vst) and other misc plugins (benchmark, abx, masstagger, fileops, freedb2, unpack, unpack_lha), KS and ASIO output (the latter may be gone soon), and a library of 4800 tracks loaded.

Mine does about 20.
I don't have any plugins, though, except the LastFM one, which does 17 on its own.
I also have a very sparse layout. Just a playlist and the info pane.
Mine while playing uses 31,072K with album art and facets... my library is 9,397 so that is possibly why mine is sorda high.

i suspect we will find that the values people are seeing for active memory usage will vary quite wildly based on many different factors - plugins loaded, size of library, number of playlists loaded, UI layout, number & type of visual components loaded, etc.
a fun topic nonetheless.
I'm running 0.9.5.3 as well, with a decent amount of non-default plugins (13 of 22 total), using DUI with all 5 Visualizations running, and my library tops out just over 35K tracks, 5 playlists loaded currently all under 100 tracks. so as you can imagine my foobar2000 install eats up a good chunk of memory.
here's a fun, easy way to compare memory usage in a uniform fashion:
grab Microsoft/Sysinternal's
Process Explorer (it's free). find foobar2000.exe, right click properties and click the performance tab.
a current
snapshot of my install's usage (approx 127MB peak physical memory / 142MB peak virtual memory).
