Full Version: Samsung SH-S202N Burner Tray Problem

My fairly new Samsung SH-S202N DVD burner has been acting up lately. When the tray opens, sometimes it hyper-extends and then automatically closes again. It also sometimes makes a strange clicking noise when it closes. Is this anything to be concerned about as far as "alignment" goes? I'm assuming that when the tray is closed, everything is as is should be, so it doesn't really matter what happens when it's open, but I'm neurotic so I have to ask these kinds of questions.

Has anyone else experienced this problem with their Samsung burners? I guess I'm just concerned that it might lead to something else breaking down and I'd like to buy another one while they're still available.

I have not seen this particular tray problem, but I have seen other tray-related problems and as far as I know they have never affected operation once the tray is closed.

DVD burners are so cheap these days, I would simply order another one.

Yep, mine (SH-S183) started doing that in the past few days. The tray always stays open the second time though, plus it seems to work properly.

Just a stab in the dark; you don't by any chance have an nForce 6xx/7xx mainboard do you?
