Does it or doesn't re-encode an mp3 after editing. On one hand it says it does, but then it says it needs an encoder to save? Sounds like re-encoding to me...

It doesn't! It just needs the encoder if you plan on recording directly to MP3 (great for long recordings).

Hmmm, didn't know that it could record direct to mp3. Would've been great for recording Rush on Rockline the other night.

It's really nice for long bootlegs etc. and if you use 192kbps cbr, quality should be just fine for its purpose.
