I'm looking for relatively low noise. Turning my ThinkPad's volume all the way up, and turning my speakers all the way up, I can hear a faint hiss. I'm also looking for a good solution to record vinyl to WAV.

There are receivers with USB connection that can act like an external soundcard. JVC's, if I remember correctly.
