Full Version: AAC on Creative Zen (flash player)

The creative zen player supports AAC, but it only appears to play files which are encoded using itunes. I'd prefer to be able to make it play ones encoded using the nero AAC encoder rather than transcoding everything through itunes.

Is there a simple way to rewrite a header to make it work, or am i screwed? Google is turning up nothing for me. Thanks.

Just found my answer on this thread: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....hl=creative+zen which links to this thread: http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/bo...ding&page=1

Thanks anyway, hopefully someone will be able to find this in the future, i've spent a few days on this one wink.gif

Yep, we found out quite a bit of time ago that Nero AAC files will only work if you use a certain tool. Nero's new AAC encoder should be coming out this month or maybe early next month. It will make Xbox 360 and Zen compatible AAC files without having to run any utilities.

that'd be great news if it was true.

Funnily enough it's not a very well known fact. I had nearly resigned myself to having to use iTunes but i decided to post here first as people know stuff wink.gif I'm a long time lurker. Still, a quick rewrite of the header will do me fine, i'm not too pushed about re-encoding everything wink.gif

Try this I found it on Creative Forum. One guy made it to work...I have tested it...it works...I used dbpoweramp with Nero AAC and used this small software to fix the tags...and i can play it on my creative zen 16gb...however, it doesn't show the time elapsed...i dunno why hope it helps....this link is below..good luck

Hrmmm... turns out the fix doesn't quite work. If i encode AAC using the nero encoder and rewrite the header, my zen can't always play the track.

Out of the first album i fixed, two tracks out of 8 cannot be played correctly. The device stops ~75% of the way through the track and moves to the next track. I'm using nero aac (LC) at 100kbps VBR. Is this a known problem that has a workaround? Or do i need to start re-encoding with itunes?

If anyone could solve this problem.....wooh that would be great.. hope creative team fix this very soon..lets keep our finger crossed
