new config is awesome aside from the user tab button.. but you already know about that.
What was the problem with ELplaylist.. since the move to NGplaylist all of my various artists albums are all over the place.. it doesn't list the whole album now, it lists them as individual songs, it's drivin me nuts. Is there any way that i can go back to ELplaylist or fix the various artists album issue.
Sounds Blast
Thought i'd make 1 last bug report/all the reports that i've found so you dont have to keep looking back.
1.Button for graphical browser (artists) disappears after you click another button from that row.
2.Playback, is always set to random mode, upon opening. (at least on my end)
3.Track Info, under user info. again the play_counter, should be just (play_count) you have to manually edit this option via right click, and find it each config that you made.
4. Progress bar has issues with seeking.
5. Your screen shot in the playlist side shows white stars, with white dots. Mine are white stars with red dots. (bug, probably not just thought i'd tell it)
That's what i've found so far, i will edit this if anymore are to show.
NOT A BUG: but you can click on album art button and then click album art to play/pause the song, works very well. (this is new right?) didnt' notice it before.
I think a change log would be nice, so we are aware of what changes are made.

ANOTHER BUG?, in full mode when you have albumart showing in the left panel, and you click the button to show the menu bar, the artist image under the albumart disappears. However in a smaller view having albumart in the left panel showing, and clicking the button to show/hide the menu panel does NOT hide the Artist image under the albumart.

I don't know about others but I loaded 1.2a version and elplaylist is working just fine. I did a brand new foobar config first, not sure if that would matter.

can anyone link me to 1.2a.. i need ELplaylist back and can't seem to find the fcl anywhere now.

it is because you have no scrollbar displayed (not enough tracks in playlist to display it!) and you have selected 'hide Scrollbar option button'

just click the button to show scrollbar again

NB: work fine in v1.2a cause in ELPlaylist, there is an option to always keep the scrollbar visible
London Mike
For me 1.2a and b are too slow to use, some actions take 10+ seconds. If I only have the playlist open and I scroll down and click a track it takes so long to open that Windows will say NOT RESPONDING at the top. Br3tt, have you fundamentally changed how something is working in the code?

many changes but nothing that can explain your pb

i have notice that v1.2 is a little bit slower on track change than v1.1 but nothing problematic for me,

but i have a good config (C2D e6850, 4Go RAM, nvidia 8800 GTS 640Mo), and you, what's yours ?

i'll re-apply adds on a fresh v1.1 base, and check perf with a checkpoint at each modification.
London Mike
My machine is average now, 2.5 gig P4 with 1GB of ram and NVIDIA Ti 4600 but it's fine for everything else including 1.1. Don't waste lots of time checking if it is fine for everyone else, I'll just wait for 1.3 and see if it solves the problem

Hi. Before I switch to the latest fb2k stable I just wanted to ask if this columns-config is using the playcount from tags (like in "Scaled") or of it's using a different mode.
Mr. Pacman
Hello, great config Br3tt! Well done!!!

I have some problems though..in playlist the grouping is like the default foobar playlist without cover art and a border appears around the playlist...What i must do?

Here is a pic...

I just did some benchmarking, I loaded the artists on the left and NG playlist on the right. I clicked on the top artist on the list to make it play, then I scrolled down to the bottom artist (1,800 tracks later) and clicked it, then timed how long it took to change tracks. With 1.1 it took 3 seconds, with 1.2b it took 11 seconds sad.gif

just wait for v1.9 and you'll be able to take a coffee tongue.gif

Seriously, 3 seconds it is already too much wink.gif

as i said, i'll see what can be optimized to retrieve a better response time
(i have added 2 or 3 panels splitter to group panels in v1.2, i think that multiplication of PSS panels is the main cause of this excessive time latency ...)

Hmmmm, thanks for the info, my PC is not super fast but it's ok-ish... For me it suddeny got DRAMATICALLY slower with 1.2, I have reinstalled FB and Ibiza but it's the same. Most of my folder.jpg pics are 500x500 and my artist.jpg are 300x300, Br3tt, will the file size slow it down? That's about all I can think of.... but it was fine in 1.1 of course sad.gif

Try to remove the 2 coverflows in the layout preferences. this solved my 3 a 4 seconds wait time.

I have just removed both coverflow panels and my track access is now INSTANT, zero delay

This is the same for 1.2a and 1.2b. I then tried deleting each coverflow seperately and each adds about a 5 second delay

So no coverflow = zero delay, 1 coverflow = 5 seconds delay and 2 coverflows = 10 seconds delay

Wow ohmy.gif

BTW nice config, first time after years i changed my PanelUI.
I got some questions though,

1. i always want the config to start with left panel (f.e. artist images), so i won't have to open it manually

2. the bottom seekbar doens't seem to work anymore in last version. Its probably a bug - on a click it jumps forward but not to its actual click position
London Mike
I'm currently running a copy of 1.2a with Chronflow integrated cool.gif

just because is not a real Seekbar !!!

i have added 2 buttons over this "Seekbar" : 1st half = backward 10 sec , second half = forward 10 sec

it is the only possibility for having a nice toolbar, but if you prefer the classic seekbar toolbar, good news i'll the possibility to use it

I do not see any option for this playlist dropdown plugin which is required to run this config. Is it really even being used?

Of course, in split mode (coverflow/playlist) haven't you remark the little arrow between the 2 panel ???
London Mike
Here Br3tt, 1.2a with Chronflow cool.gif

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3019/260753...b0052126f_o.jpg

The problem is there are too many variables. I like EL but it doesn't seem very stable, NG seems to be a lot more robust as long as it can be customised properly (I like how you have EL in 1.2a, can you make NG like that?)

And although I like Coverflow it's a total memory hog and makes the programme run slow, I prefer it to Chronflow, but Chronflow has zero lag

So the best combination for everyone is NG Playlist with Chronflow, surely?

How about doing a proper optimised build with NG/Chronflow made to look as you have 1.2a?

Actually 1.2a with Chronflow works fine, EL seemed to be upset by Coverflow but I've been using EL/Chronflow here for an hour and it's great if you set the Chronflow options correctly so all covers are loaded into cache. The only problem is when you first open FB and it has to pre-load all the covers, but after that it's very fast cool.gif

I'm using Chronflow 1.3

Hey, is .Playback, is always set to random mode, upon opening. (at least on my end) going to be fixed in next release?

Great config and integration work Br3tt !

Bubble Coverflow might be slow because of the 40 covers to load by default. Change it to a value < 10 or even equal to 5 and there should be no lag at all. The setting is in the plugin preference popup.

Another BUG:, if your songs are longer then 99 you no longer see the track number. This is a problem for me, since i have a few albums with tracks over 99. Your old config worked with it.
Another BUG: when you use the arrow to put your playlist to the left hand side-full playlist, the quick then has a piece of your album title displayed in it's search box, very weird.

In the Album cover + Artist Picture window, there is no picture of the artist if the width of the window is a little bit larger. Can be reproduced like this: 1 - width of the left pane is big to accomodate 2 covers => artist image visible; 2 - width of the left pane is big to accomodate 3 or more covers => artist image not visible

thanx i confirm that is very quick with only 5 covers, but this number is so ridiculous for a cover flow (just my point of view) ... looks good with at least 20 covers to give it a good look, but less speed on track change (what a shame)

i hope an optimization of your wonderfull component to this way by someone wink.gif

thanx again for it smile.gif

Br3tt, can I suggest that the order of the icons is wrong at the top left. The PLAY LIST tab should be second on the left next to the LIBRARY tab because they go together, all the other tabs relate to the song that is playing

They should be like this I think...

QUOTE(ActiveThoughts @ Jun 24 2008, 22:56) *

just for the playback order tongue.gif

as you know, columnsUI don't handle PVAR like panelsUI does, so i have no way to memorize on exit the playback order. It stay the same after a restart, i know that, but to display the rigth button status, if have no possibility to know what is the active playback order, so i enforce the playback order to a choice (shuffle tracks, which is my most used order, so, button reflect the good playback order at launch.

i could add 3 fake panels used like booleans (displayed or not) (already do it for hidding Start Panel) named 'PO default' 'PO Shuffle' and 'PO Repeat' and you'll only have to select (once) which 'boolean' to set to visible on startup (the 2 other are to be hidden on startup (Panel SPlitter option button to check)

i'll try to put this in 1.3
London Mike
Actually, even better, they fall into 3 categories...

The LIBRARY and PLAY LIST logically go together

Then the ARTIST LIST and the ALBUM LIST are linked as they have graphics and a similar layout

Finally the last 3 are all related to the track that is playing, LYRICS, ARTWORK and TRACK INFO

So why not make a small gap between them to show they are similar but grouped, like this?

IPB Image

more important things to fix, i'll see that later but good remark.
