Full Version: Bitstreams to test mp3 decoders

Hi,
I would like to understand if there are any standard MP3 bitstreams used to perform worst-case benchmarking of MP3 decoders. I see MP3 decoders claiming worst case peak MIPS ranging from 10 MIPS to 25+ MIPS. I wonder if all of them are using the same kind of worst-case bitstreams and parameters. Would appreciate if I can get some pointers to worst-case streams or atleast an idea of which streams are used for such benchmarking generally.

Thanks,
Suman.

This thread should be split - the new post is not about encoder test samples, but decoder test streams.

There are compliance and audio quality test streams available...

ftp://ftp.tnt.uni-hannover.de/pub/MPEG/au...eg1/compliance/
...I don't know if these are relevant to decoding speed, but they are "standard" streams.

Cheers,
David.

Thanks David. I was curious about the streams generally used for worst case benchmarking. Also wonder if the MIPS stated by companies is for full accuracy decoders or for limited accuracy ones as it seems to make a lot of difference to MIPS on most RISC processors.

Thanks,
Suman.
