Full Version: samsung dvd/cd drive problems

Hello,

I recently purchased a new computer which has a samsung dvd/cd drive. When I would try to burn audio tracks using either winamp or nero I would get 'power calibration' faults. I read that it was possibly due to either the quality of the blank discs I was using or that the firmware needed to be upgraded. I went with the firmware upgrade and found that indeed there was new firmware for my drive. I used Samsung's live firmware update which detects the model and downloads the firmware automatically. After I did this however now winamp does not even recognize there is a blank disc in the drive. I tried using eac and it starts to burn with the lead in but never writes to the disc. They both see that there is a drive and what model it is but will not do any burning. Any help or suggestions is appreciated. Thanks.

Apologies....I guess this post should have been posted to the Cd/Hardware forum. I did not see it until too late.

Sounds like a broken drive, i'd return it.
