Hiya.
I'm using Vista Business Edition 64-bit and I was wondering whether its version of Windows Explorer can be persuaded to read OGG Vorbis tags? Like you know how in the Music folder it will show you the title, artist etc. of MP3s - can I have it do the same for OGG?
Ta,
Robin.
i'm using "audioshell" for my windows xp and is perfect but i dont think there is a version for Vista yet...
I hope they will release something soon.

I think that dBpowerAMP will work but I am not sure if it supports the 64-bit version of Vista. I currently have it on my Vista (32-bit) powered notebook and it works fine.

If I recall correctly, dBpA doesn't make Explorer show up tags in folder view, but adds a verbose popup on mouseover on a file-per-file basis. Is there a way to integrate it deeper in Windows' shell?

In addition to the popup info, dbpoweramp adds a dozen or more configurable columns to the list of columns that you can add to views using explorer.exe (right-click on a view column and select More...). IIRC, they all show up with "Audio " as the prefix.

Our Explorer column implementation does not currently support Vista, so only popup info and property pages in vista.
Do you have any plans supporting .ogg tags or any other formats in vista columns using Dbpoweramp Spoon?

Although it is a commercial, shareware-type product, it is pretty much a complete and effective replacement for the Windows Shell (Explorer). Directory Opus. I cannot help but mention it, as so many people ask about displaying other tag types. Unfortunately, it does not (yet) support APE, but maybe some day. It does not support all tags, though, and I'd like to see it support more. Maybe we could convince the authors.
I think there is still a try-out period. I'm not affiliated.
As I understand, 3rd-party columns have been made difficult if not impossible to implement in Vista. I believe if anyone could do it, Spoon would have by now.
good luck

I estimated about 3-4 days to do the work, not too dificult, the uptake on Vista was the one thing which has slowed development.
