I recently decided to convert some of my flac albums to mp3 to put on my iphone. I used the built in converter in foobar2k and everything worked just great, and all the tags and everything were moved over.
However, now when I search for that album in the album view, it shows up once as expected. However, when I add it to a playlist, BOTH flac and mp3 versions get moved into my playlist. This leads to two or even three (if I had a cuesheet of this album as well) versions of the track appearing in my list, which is REALLY annoying. Am I missing some configuration option to get it to skip these duplicates and pick the higher bitrate file?
Thanks,

All files are being picked, because all files have he needed metadata.
If you only want to browse FLAC files, you could separate your files in the first layer of your grouping pattern. For example, the "by Artist view" is by default:
QUOTE
%<album artist>%|%album%|[[%discnumber%.]%tracknumber%. ][%track artist% - ]%title%
You could change it to:
QUOTE
%codec%|%<album artist>%|%album%|[[%discnumber%.]%tracknumber%. ][%track artist% - ]%title%

Hmm, I just tried your method but it's not what I'm looking for. This seems like a really common issue, why is there no easy option that just makes it do what most users expect? I'd even be willing to settle for a plugin.

I guess if ALL your music is in flac, except for stuff you are sending to your iPhone, you could add *.MP3 to the excluded file types in the Media Library Preferences.

Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately, my music is in pretty mixed formats. Perhaps I will look into finding or writing a plugin to make this work right for me.
