Hi!
I was wondering, for playing and catalogisation, is Media Jukebox really so good?

I use with my files Mpeg Audio Collection 2.90 for catalogisation, Tag&Rename and Tag for tagging, and foobar2000 for playback (and for encoding: Monkey's Audio 2.97, EAC as a frontend for MusePack 1.14).... They are pretty good, but:
1. I don't have the possibility to upload APE v2 tags automatically from the net.
2. Mpeg Audio Collection is dead, 2.90 is the last relise.
So, I consider using Media Jukebox. Is it really good? Does it have resampling? Does it have the 24 bits outpuit depth?

I'll toot my horn on this one...

It is unparalled in music organization. The Smartlists (kind of a hyper playlist) are very powerful. Clean and easy to use interface. As cheap as WinAmp or Foobar (at least for 30 days it is). The upcoming V9 (called Media Center right now...it's still in beta but is very stable on most machines) has a ton of playback options (ASIO, multizone...and many more I don't remember now). Go see the JRiver site...find the feature list page. Ver 8 (which is what I use) is current and rock solid. Both versions handle databases that would choke about any other jukebox. Very customizable...it can be set up exactly the way you want it.

Actually I think it has 32 bit / 192 khz sampling if your card supports such things.

It does a lot of things very well.

Media Jukebox is the most customizable/configurable when it comes to organizing your collection.

The newest version of Media Center support APE 2.0 tags for Monkey's Audio and MPC. Also supports ID3v1 and/or v2 for MP3s. Also, just FYI, one of the Media Jukebox developers is also the developer of Monkey's Audio, so support for MA is very good.

For tagging from internet search Ape & id3 but others format also, this tool
Abander TagControl 1.38
http://www.softartstudio.com/tagcontrol/

Support all popular tags:
• MP3 ID3v1 and ID3v2
• OGG (OGG Vorbis)
• WMA (Windows media)
• ASF (Audio & Video)
• APE (Monkey's audio)
• Lyrics (MP3 ID3v2, OGG, WMA, ASF)
• Album Art (MP3 ID3v2, WMA, ASF)

I have tested Mediacenter V9 :
- I never finished to index my 7000 files .. 100%Cpu and many hours after i stoped it (dapyx index in 3Omin)
- product is a little bit buggy
- i found it not "ergonomic" at all
- ressource consuming
- the most functionnalities you can find in a product, yes

Dapyx is ... was a very good product ... http://www.dapyx-soft.com/
- Ape & id3 support
- good frontend for Foobar
- no consuming ressource
- speed in indexing
- easy to use
- no lyrics, cover, internet capture, etc...

The choices are :
1) a heavy and major all-in-one soft // Mediacenter (open) ... Realone, WMP (in house)
2) dapyx + foobar // with abander for tagging ? (and addon for lyrics viewer to foobar ...)

It's a fact that many good products like "mediacenter" are vanishing :

- http://www.dapyx-soft.com/

And a number of new Tag (Ape in fact ..)) and codec/container appears and people want to use them ...
difficult to support all of them ...

Xenno made reference to the fact that it is still in beta.

You know, I was surprised, though it is not said, Mpeg Audio Collection does have the support of APE v2 tags! The only thing left - is to find the possibility to write APE v 2 tags form the Internet. Abander Tag Control, you say? I'll try it...
You say, that Dapyx was a very good product, why was? I have downloaded it and try it, but I don't like it very much. You know, I am afraid of monstrous progs like Sound Forge, I'd rather prefer Cool Edit... That's why I hate all-in-one progs... Dapyx seem to be an all-in-one thing. So many buttons... Why is it better than Mpeg Audio Collection 2.90? MAC's catalogs are much liter and it operates faster... That's my IMHO. What do you think? What features have Dapyx which are not adherant to MAC 2.90?
