You have no idea how many hours i have wasted over the years on trying to install/reinstall the Sound Blaster 2 ZS driver and accually getting it to work after, and now i have done it again!..wasted hours for nothing, this time i hade to test reinstall cause "Fraps" have stopped recording sound for no reason

No matter how many Creative trash registry remains "Registry Mechanics" finds, and how many repair-installations i have performed from the CD, and deleted creative folders on computer, it will not work from scratch again
it installs 100 % without complains, but its after computer-restart i get the perm message from "Surround Mixer"
"The audio device supported by this application is not detected, the application will exit"

Now i finally wanna know exactley, what registry-keys/folders it is for this..i guess known error? that lies behind this message!
and why its impossible to avoid this message, every time i have reinstalled windows XP this will appear atleast 1 time, either on cd installs or after web updates, its a bad tradition..just like Christmas in this home after some reinstallations and with right luck..the error can dissapear thou, but not this time it seems

One plane is to use free appl "Reg seeker" and search for "creative" and delete everything, but i dont dare, i know it will cause that computer must re-find the entire card, and that is somethimes moore time-wasting to succed with

Now i have no XP restore Point to go back to cause of a accident, so you must help me or i must reinstall XP crying.gif smile.gif
Shall i stopp installing from a 6 year old CD? (but i web-update after offcorse)

One note is that no matter if i completley uninstall everything with creative, still it plays sound after!, its not the Windows deafult beep, it works normal exept that i can't access any settings!
something is wrong, when you cant reinstall back to beeps, i need to do that

Check out the kx driver project:

See if your card can use these drivers

Use Driver Cleaner to clear out the reg entries and all the bits of the old driver:

Use the pro version for 10 bucks if you like:

Drive cleaner has been very effective for me. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the software for the 2 ZS many times over the past two years. Most of the software I have no use for, but I do like using the mixer and the version 5 player.
Unfortunately, one has to install a lot of BS to get a few desirable functions.
I once compiled a list of install order starting with the original disc, then using updates, as well as eliminating some unnecessary memory hogging portions I had no use for (like the DVDA detector, although I still use the program occasionally). Unfortunately I lost the list.
I love this card, as I work with DVDA & MLP files, as well as DTS; with the addition of AC3FILTER there is basically not much audio it cannot play.

Generally when you get that "The audio device supported by this application is not detected, the application will exit" message you should go into Services and ensure Windows Audio is Started.
