Full Version: Razer Barracuda AC-1 Sound Card

I got the AC-1 off woot for $55 a while back, it's a good sounding card especially considering my onboard realtek had been physically damaged.

In the drivers, there are massive amounts of options and I'm not exactly sure what they are.

There is "Dolby Headphone Mode", "Dolby Prologic IIX", and "DTS: Neo-PC" all under the headphones section. Documentation is extremely sparse. In addition, they make it even more confusing by allowing the choice of different "room environments" such as padded cell, hallway, jungle, etc. I do not want this kind of distortion to be at the driver level, but at the game rendering level, no? There is also movie/music mode, and tons of other garbage with no real descriptions of what they do.

Does anyone else use this card for emulating 5.1 surround on stereo headphones, and if so what kind of settings do I need to enable in the drivers/in game?

Much appreciated.

You should be able to download the manual in PDF format and get the latest Win32 XP/Vista drivers from the RazerSupport web site.

I already had the drivers and the manual, they don't really say anything about the different modes though. Just that they're there. unsure.gif
