hi.
whenever I try to change or edit a mp3 tag I get this messege:
for example
Could not update tags (Access denied) on:
"C:\mp3\Alternative\Wilco\Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot\Wilco - Kamera.mp3"
My mp3 folder is not read only
can anyone help me?
thanks.

You might try checking folder/file permissions as well, i.e. right-click on the file, choose Properties, tab Security and see if your user account has the write permission.

I noticed yesterday that I couldn't update the tag of 1 file that I'd just added, and got a similar message to yours. Tried a restart, didn't work. I then had that file playing, tried to update it, and I could! I've no idea why it would allow me to update the tag, but it worked for me, it might work for you too.

Here's a thought: are you using Last.fm's client?
The newer versions of the player include fingerprinting option by default, which basically analizes tracks you play and lock them during that.
So... if this is relevant, in the last.fm client go to Tools > options > Scrobbling and untick "Allow Last.fm to fingerprint your tracks".
Oh yeah - one more thing - is the file read only, maybe? Silly solution, but hey - it's worth a shot.
thanks guys
the problem seems to be with the permissions of the folder
this vista asks too many damn questions
I kinda manage to change the tags but it keeps showing me the messege of "can't update tags" but then i press okay and he changes the fields..
whatever
anyway thank u

You need admistrator rights to change the tags. Silly but thats the way it is.
Two solutions :
1) right click on shortcut for foobar2000 and choose "run as administrator". That should do the trick (but need to do it each time you run foobar).
2) Install foobar in an other folder than "program files"
