Full Version: Convert to media library folder doesn't add files to library

When I download .flac files I always convert them to mp3 VBR V0 with this output: %album artist%/['('%date%')' ]%album%/%track%. %title%. The flacfiles-downloadfolder is located outside my libraryfolder.

The folder I convert them to is //NA5/Music and thats my medialibrary folder. foobar however doesn't add the files to the library, so I have to search the files in explorer and enqueue them to get them added. (or select output-log and add that to playlist.). This isn't working the way I am used to in foobar (if compared to foo_fileops).

Is the behaviour described above intended? I'd like the feature that it will autoadd everyting that is converted from outside into the medialibrary (as move does in fileops).

If I understand correctly, maybe directory watcher; foo_dirwatch will work for you. As long as Foobar is running, it will notice when the directory structure is changed.

This looks like you use a network share as a media library folder. Take note that foobar2000 does not know that - say - C:\Music is the same folder as \\NA5\Music (assuming the network share is located on the local file system). I'm not quite sure if it would recognize that \\NA5\Music and //NA5/Music are supposed to be the same folder, but it would be safer to use the first one as that is the canonical form.

I am using \\NA5\Music as my medialibrary-folder, got the // wrong in first post (I am used to use webpageadress-slashes). The folder is located on another machine (a WD Mybook World 500GB, a dedicated NAS). The pc I run foobar on is a WinXP Home SP3.

This is the setup:
1. C:\Program Files\foobar2000\*.* (local)
2. \\NA5\Downloads (NAS)
3. \\NA5\Music (NAS)

In the folder 2. are my flacfiles and I convert to folder 3. which is set as medialibraryfolder.

Foosion, as you said nothing about the fact that converter should or shouldn't update the library, I am still curious about that. foo_fileops works fine with my current setup.

I'm having the same issues with the media library not behaving correctly, too. Anytime I rip something into the library, or I use the "File Operation" component to move the files within the library designated folders, it does not refresh the media library and show the files. I have to manually drag the files into the foobar playlist to get them to show up. This is definitely some kind of bug, as it's behavior contradicts what is stated in the the media libraries preferences:

Any help with this problem will be most appreciated, as I don't really want to do the extra steps to get my music to show up in my library every time I add or make changes to it. Thanks.

@Vitz: Your problem could be based on missing tags. Try querys like:
%album% MISSING
%artist% MISSING
%title% MISSING

That should cover most songs. Make sure you fill the missing tags and the problem should be solved i think.

edit:
hmm i am sure i replyd to a question in this topic but it's gone?

That did it. Thank you!

Still have this question about convert to. Should or shouldn't it update my library? If the latest, will this be implemented?
