Can somebody give me an example how to use clipboard as source? I really have no idea how that feature could help me at tagging my files.

Thanks! smile.gif

When freedb/discogs doesn't have your CD info, grab the tracklist from a website like Amazon, Musicbrainz, etc. and tag your files using that. Admittedly it's not always as straightforward as it sounds since copying from a website usually results in some unneeded info coming along with it.

I've found it absolutely indispensable in such cases. Often times, the wikipedia or amazon.com entry will have the detailed track list I'm looking for (with "featuring", "XYZ cover" type info). I use the command in that case.

Unneeded info isn't a problem for me because, atleast with the sources I'm using, the junk is pretty standard across lines so a simple %% usage solves the problem.

It's the Properties dialog equivalent of the Masstagger's "Input data (one line per track)" or whatever.

Peter worked hard on making the Properties dialog almost as functional as the Masstagger, and short of Masstagger's scripting and keybinding abilities, has gotten it to feature parity.

I'm not quite sure what is the question.. How to use it? or What is it usefulness? I assume it's the second question since I believe you should known how to use it already... Well, if not (just in case)

You find a CD track list from website that list like..

1. aaaa
2. bbbb
3. cccc
4. dddd

You highlight and copy all of them, select your tracks (4 tracks in this case) in foobar and use that function and type the pattern according to the information (in this case, %tracknumber%. %title%) and it will fill the tags.

But still, I don't believe it's the second question either... If this was really what you meant to asked, you are one lucky guy...

Your assumption is correct!
Thanks for all your examples, now i see the usefulness - my problem was that i didn't think about sources for clipboard outside of foobar.
