I have a question on how grouping albums work.

A majority of my music collection have albums that have various artists, (e.g. Classical Chillouts) and when I view them in NG Playlist, they're separated into individual groups (refer to image) My question is, is there a way in NG playlist to group songs by their album and not separate them up because they have different artists? The current way of how I group them now is change the artist into "various artists" and then put the actual artist name into the title of the metatag. This way, the files themselves group into a single album, this can can be very tedious work. I know that the standard columns playlist does this fine, but when I tried using NG Playlist, some of the albums got broken up. Any way I can fix this?

On a similar note: I think that the panelsui component had a option to group by album, artists, etc, I don't think it works in columns ui at the moment, could this fix my problem?

The album is separated because of the artist's name.

This is what I want but in NG Playlist - how its grouped by albums, and not seperated by the artist's name.

I'm wondering if I'm making any sense. unsure.gif

You should make use of the Album Artist field -- it's made for that purpose. If you put Various Artists into the album artist field, you can then put the actual (track) artist in the Artist field and not mess around with the Title field. Then in NG Playlist, you can group by %album artist% - %album%. (Note that if Album Artist is blank, foobar automatically displays the Artist instead when you put %album artist%) If you don't know how to change the grouping settings of NGPL, it's under Display > ColumnsUI > Playlist view > Grouping in the preferences, though I believe it's grouped by album artist by default.

Thanks, I'll try that when I have time tomorrow.
