Hi!

I currently have a pair of m-audio bx5a's connected directly to my audiophile 2496 soundcard via rca-out to ts-in.

I am looking to add another set of active speakers to have an a/b speaker type situation, with the smaller monitors for use at the computer and a larger set for the general listening in the living room.

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how to run two sets of actives from one input. The m-audio monitors also utilise balanced xlr/trs connections. So i guess i'm looking for something with 2x rca/ts-in and 2x2x ts/trs/xlr-out. I have been so impressed with the value:performance of the bx5a's that i'm probably looking at the 130w bx8a's for the second set.

Thanks!

I'd probably build something... But, I've been soldering & building electronic stuff since I was a kid...

Any passive stereo A/B switch should work, if you can find one. Most of these are made for two inputs and one output, but a passive-mechanical switch will also work "backwards".

I've read about "monitor controllers", and I found some intersting possibilities here.

in case anyone ever comes across the same situation i went with this...

SM Pro Audio M-Patch 2

xlr/trs/rca/3.5mm-in to a/b balanced xlr-outs

it also has a passive attenuator

it also has a headphone amp

not bad for AU$170
