Hi,

I'm using EAC (0.9b4) and noticed the possibility to encode files using the lame_enc.dll.

EAC gives me some options:

Quality: [High Quality, Normal Quality, Low Quality, Voice Quality]
VBR-Quality [0 (High Quality), 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (Normal), 6, 7, 8, 9 (High Compresion)]

Can someone give me the corresponding commandline switches for these options?

And: The EncSpot tells me, that the VBR method is vbr-mtrh.
I have't found anything usefull about vbr-mtrh in this forum. Is this method part of the improvements for 3.94, or hasn' it been changed since 3.91? And if not, could someone change the method to vbr-old in the next dll-version?
But obviously it's the only possible VBR method with EAC and lame_enc.dll, today.
Can someone give me some quick infos about this all.

Thanks

If you want control over the encoding parameters, using the dll with EAC is NOT the way to go. The settings used by the dll in this method are set within EAC, they are not user selectable beyond what is displayed to you. Use the normal exe for best results.

Thanks.

But what about the "vbr-mtrh"- thing. Is someone working on it, or is "vbr-old" still the recommended VBR-method?

vbr_rh = vbr_old is what is used in --APS and --APE;
vbr_mtrh = vbr_new is what is used in --APS FAST and --APE FAST.

If you use the LAME dll v3.90.2 available here : http://static.hydrogenaudio.org/extra/LAME...ied_dll-ICL.zip , then the --alt-presets are mapped to certain settings like the ones that you mentioned above. There should be a file in the zip that tells you what settings each --alt-preset is mapped to.

I am also trying to use the modified lame_enc.dll with EAC and while it appears to be working there are several problems. There is no Xing header being added to the .mp3 despite my setting for it to be included. There is no Lame header added to the .mp3 file. Both the Xing header and the Lame header are added properly if i use the external compressor and the user defined command line. Is this a problem with EAC that needs to be reported? Is this a problem with the dll?
