Hi guys, When I went to uni I copied my cd collection to flac and shoved them in storage.

I used EAC

Anyway, I want to have a physical cd to play in my hifi/car. I have a cue file.

Will there be any loss or will it be identical to the orginial cd?

Here is a log file for you to look at.

CODE

FLAC is lossless and your EAC log reported no errors using secure mode, creating regular CDA's from those files will not degrade quality to any extent.

cool

so how do i get them back on to cd?
Hanky
The easiest way is to burn with EAC (Tools/ Write CD)
Another possibility is to use Burrrn

@nuclearjelly:
Since you expressed an interest in creating an identical copy, you should be aware that the audio data on the burned disc will not be identical unless you account for the burner's write offset and its ability to overwrite if the offset samples are non-null.

If you are curious about how exact your burn is, generate test CRCs for all the tracks and compare them to that from the original. Make sure you are not telling EAC not to use null samples for CRC calculations. IOW, you want EAC to use null samples which means that the setting that controls this needs to be unticked.

Um..

..

Hmm.

I'm no audio genius but I can tell the diffrence between flac and lame vbr 192 so I ripped everything to flac and turned it in to the storage.

I cant tell the difference between flac and cd.

so as long as the cd sounds like my flac i dont really mind smile.gif
Hanky
Flac is lossless , thus will be identical to your original CD as long as there were no errors in the ripping process

Mp3 (e.g. lame) is a lossy compression format, some information was lost in the process. Whether you can hear the difference or not depends on a lot of other factors.

Greynol is right in the above post about read/write offsets in a technical sense, but for occasional listening in your car it will make no difference. Normally you won't notice a few milli microseconds offset in the music. The audio content will be exactly the same.

edit: thanks greynol for the hint wink.gif

I am going to second that. It's definitely a solid program to use in this situation. wink.gif

Burrrn doesn't do 'on-the-fly' flac burning, does it?
greynol
The CD will sound exactly the same as your flac except the data will be shifted in time and the amount will probably be on the order of microseconds (if your burner is the drive with the -48 sample read offset, then your write offset is most likely only going to be 18 samples).

If you aren't interested in an identical copy then you can happily ignore everything that I have said.

No, it writes a temp file.

Another caveat: burrrn has the ability to apply ReplayGain adjustments to the audio data which is not a lossless process.
