Try to install MSVC++ 2008 Redistributable Package
...just to register a dshow-filter? To be honest that's a bit too much effort...
Are You able to register lame.ax by using "regsvr32 lame.ax"? I'm running WinXP SP3 (german Vers.).
Anyway, thanks for replying,
Olnima
I feel the same way, too much effort to install this package to install a Directshow filter.
However, I am glad the answer was waiting for me when I searched. HA rocks. And I can't really complain about free software.
For those interested, the 3.98-final lame.ax DirectShow filter installs without installing the MSVC++ 2008 Redistributable Package.
Well, for starters, any newly available software is likely to want this installation, or will include the relevant parts. And, secondly, I had to install the WindowsSDK to compile this, just for a couple of headers and to compile one library, and that was a 1.3GB install!

People seem to be making rather a fuss about a one time, not exactly huge install!
