On some MP4 encodes, I get the following error message after the encoder has finished:

"MP4CREATOR caused an invalid page fault in
module MP4CREATOR.EXE at 018f:0047cd91.

The MP4 file itself is fine. Can't figure out what is casuing the page fault. happens on some files but not on others. This is more of an annoyance, since the file is ok. Any ideas?

Also, finding that AAC is a slower encoder than LAME 3.90.2 or MPC. The spped isn't important to me, just interested in whether my experience is typical. Example:

CSN&y - Deja Vu. 43,411 KB WAV file

MP4 (-extreme) Size: 7,096 KB Time: 1:18
MPC (--quality 6 -xlevel) Size: 6,566 KB Time: 16
Lame 3.90.2 (AP fast extreme) Size: 7,877 KB Time :28
Lame 3.90.2 (AP extreme) Size: 7,120 KB Time: :55

PC is fairly fast: Pentium 4- 2.4 Ghz (reads as 2.66 GHS, 533 Mhz FSB); 256 MB DDR 333 Mhz PC 2700 RAM; 40 GB ATA-100 HD; Intel D845PEBT2 board.

So you use PsyTEL AACEnc and mp4creator with Speek's GUI?

How do the original WAVs differ, in size perhaps? Are they reconverted from another format?

You could use Nero AAC or PsyTEL FastEnc, both are about twice as fast as AACEnc.

Correct. Using aacenc_mpeg4, and MPCreator60.exe, renamed as MPCreator per the instructions on HA.

Mostly differ in size. Most are EAC rips from CDs. One was a WAV recording from the stereo. None were converted from another format.

Thanks for suggestions. Don't want to par for Nero, but I will give Psytel FastEnc a spin.

Hans-Jurgen, thanks kindly for replying. Steve

Which thread? I'm wondering what this should be good for... It's probably more important what date the EXE has, because Roberto compiled a new version of the MPEG4IP tools recently.

Hmm, maybe this is already an incompatibility between a new mp4creator and an old AACEnc_MPEG4... Because of that you should no longer use this PsyTEL codec and either switch to AACEnc or FastEnc, depending on your favorite usage.
