I'm trying to find out if there is any software that can properly identify 1) Encoder used for, well, encoding (that can not be easily manipulated by the person encoding it) such as libvorbis 'official' ,aoTuV beta5.5 etc, 2) identifying whether a file is encoded as VBR or ABR (atm, ogginfo, dbpoweramp etc. only show it as 'xxkbps' - average bitrate), CBR is not a problem. And 3) pretty much any other advanced metadata...

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

That can not be easily manipulated by the person encoding it? What the hell do you mean by that?

Mr. Questionman should be what your looking for.

VorbisComments will show the average bitrate of something encoded with, say, Q6(VBR) as what it actually is, for example 180 or 200kbps, rather than just 192VBR - but VorbisComments can be edited.

That can not be *easily* manipulated to show themselves as anything else. In particular passing off ABR as VBR.

Sir, you're looking for ogginfo from the vorbis-tools package.

ogginfo will only identify what encoder is used and perhaps reveal an average bitrate closer to the nominal bitrate. This, however, is nowhere near accurate enough.

Well, I'm using the Linux version of ogginfo so theoretically the Windows version might be different, but it gives not only the encoder used and the average bitrate but also the nominal bitrate which is an indication of the -q setting. (e.g. nominal bitrate of 160,000 kbps is -q 5, 144,000 is -q 4,5, 128,000 is -q 4 etc.)
Whether the average bitrate calculation is accurate, I don't know.

The meta information of ABR/VBR is not included by default. Therefore, probably there is not the tool displaying such an information.
