The other day I got a copy from Low-Life, just to know it was full of glitches, clicks and pops. Specially in the Bonus CD. Mastered from vinyl, or better, mastered from the toilet. Later I found the thread in the fan forum, which is counting 269 errors in all 5 remastered re-issues.

Ouch.

It's funny (or sad) - for lots of old recordings (e.g. those from the 1930s), the best available copies are those held in private collections, because record companies have lost or destroyed the masters.

I hoped this situation would never hit the CD era, but here we are!

2Bdecided, I like New Order a lot, it's a UK band, from the gold harvest in the 80's. I am so disappointed we've got these kind of remasters now!

So, let me get this straight. We've progressed from remasters that are "merely" brickwall limited to the point where they sound somewhat defective, to where actual skips and clicks exist in the remasters, illustrative of a bad digital rip, and of nonexistent quality control?

The Manchester band offer fans exchanges on collector editions of their albums that have too much snap, crackle and pop - not that any of the reviewers noticed
