I have uploaded the latest source code changes for aacgain to the cvs repository on sourceforge. The latest version is 1.8.

This contains the following changes since 1.7:
  1. faad2 scale factor errors that prevented some valid .m4a/.mp4 files from being analyzed are now ignored.
  2. the build instructions have been updated to specify the use of the latest versions of mpeg4ip/mp4v2 and mp3gain.

Use of the latest mp4v2 version 1.6.1 corrects file corruption that occurred with video files containing Quicktime chapter markers.

Use of the latest mp3gain code version 1.4.7 provides support for bit rates up to 96000. Thanks to Ben Allison for this code. Previous releases only supported up to 48000.

I will provide pre-built Windows binaries of aacgain 1.8 to rarewares.

Have fun!

Any chance of a update of iGain to support iTunes 9?
At startup I get a

Fatal error. Please restart iTunes and try again.
File .\ITunesAPI.cpp, Line 66, result -2147467262.

I know this project has been dead for year, but I can always hope. I find it very useful.

Failure on line 66 means that iTunes refused iGain's request to connect to it using COM. The error code is E_NOINTERFACE. It's hard for me to believe that Apple would have broken iTunes's COM API. However, when I Google for "iTunes 9.0 E_NOINTERFACE" I see a report that last.fm is having the same problem.

If Apple really broke their COM API, there is nothing I can do, other than hope they fix it later.

I am planning to upgrade to iTunes 9.0 in a couple of weeks, once the dust settles. I'll see if I can reproduce the problem then.

Thanks for reporting this!

I'm happy to report that iGain is working again after I upgraded to iTunes 9.0.1
