Is there a 64 bit version of musepack for windows anywhere?
I've been using 64 bit lame, and it performs better, so if there is no such build for musepack currently, could somebody make it?
Seed
Some years ago we attempted to create one and the speed gains did not justify it. Things might have changed since and compilers have improved... Anyway, there are no official 64-bit binaries that I know of

So could you compile it?
Or at least give me a clue how to do it..
I'm only familiar with compiling on linux, and I don't have a development enviroment on windows.

SV8 encoder binaries fresh from the SVN. 64-bit is ~13% faster

On a quad core Intel and a quad core Phenom the 64-bit version is definitely faster. On one dual core AMD tested it was actually slower. I don't think it's justified. Decoding speed is much more important for most users. 35x realtime encoding speed on my CPU is more than enough.

Please report problems if you notice any

Current AMD X2s don't have a L3 cache. Phenom does and the upcoming Kuma X2 will, that could be the deciding factor in your benches.

Seed, can you create 64bit binaries for 1.16 SV7?
I'm not sure if SV8 is really stable and if it isn't going to change much till final...

In a split thread from this one I've stated what the plans are

By the way, has SV8 beta stage been put for eternity? smile.gif

Actually, the SV8 format was de facto finalized 8 days ago. The only part still in beta status is Chapter-Tag field, but it is not a mandatory field.
Anyhow, not too many players can deal with chapters, sad but true.
Of course cueshhets are good and (almost) universal alternative, but I somehow prefer native (embedded) solutions.

looking forward to the announcement! It's been a whole year in beta stage!

Well, there is no official announcement yet, but still:
CODE
D:\musepack>mpcenc.exe
MPC Encoder 1.28.0 --stable-- (C) 1999-2008 Buschmann/Klemm/Piecha/MDT
Built Nov 15 2008 20:02:19

If developers consider the format as stable, we shouldn't worry anymore.

Sorry been off-topic.

P.S. Most of my files are SV8 already.

Edit: postscript

Can anyone build a SV7 64 bit musepack for me?
Or direct me to where I can find instructions on how to build libmpc for linux (I'm using gentoo)?
My mpd doesn't work with SV8 files currently, so I need one of those (and to rebuild mpd, after libmpc in second case).

READ the thread.

I've read the thread. Didn't help me find a link to the 1.28.0 binary.

Well, this is somehow off-topic (because it is a 32 bit compile), but here you are smile.gif

.
Please bear in mind that this are not the final SV8 binaries, although major changes are not likely.
So, if you want to stay on the safe side you should probably avoid re-encoding all of your SV7 collection yet.

Thanks a lot! (didn't know there was already a sv7 to sv8 converter, awesome)
