Full Version: Copy album art from files to others

Hi,

I encoded all my music (in excess of 3000 songs) from FLAC to Lame mp3 at v2 quality. This was done without any testing/ABXing etc.. All of these files have album art embedded into them which as you can imagine took a fair amount of time to do.

Since this, I have done some testing and realise that I can ABX V2 and V1 and now I can notice, it is annoying me. Therefore, I converted my flacs to lame V1. However, I overlooked the fact that these new files would have no album art (my flacs have no album art embedded).

Is there any way that I can copy the album art from the V2 files to the V1 file provided that they have identical tags apart from the album art (which they do.)?

Thanks

I don't know how to do this, but I when I was searching for tools to embed artwork, I ran across a discussion (on another forum) about a Media Monkey script that can extract the artwork to a separate file. The script is called Album Art Tagger, and you can find it here.

Since I know Media Monkey can embed artwork, I assume the entire process can be scripted/automated.

I also ran-across a command line tool for extracting art, called getid3pics.exe

I thought that it may be the case that I will have to extract the album art to jpg files and then re-embed them into the new mp3's.

That script you mentioned certainly makes it easier than using MP3Tag and right clicking and saving each one individually!

I can make do with the V2 tracks for now as they are by no means terrible and I will just slowly add the extracted covers to the V1 tracks.

Thanks for your help!
