I'm trying to make some CD's with PlexTools, but when I try to record the CD I get the message: "The source disc is too large."
The file size as shown in Explorer is 696 MB (730,652,672 bytes) (it's an .avi file, if that matters), destination CD is 700MB.
I've downloaded the latest PlexTools update 1.19, tried different media with no luck..
Tried to burn the same file/CD with Nero and had no problem.
Then I tried to copy a CD with PlexTools, the cd-reading goes without problems but when I insert a blank CD to write to,PlexTools gives the same error. The same CD copied without any problems with Nero.
I've used PlexTools some time ago and it worked like a charm...I don't have any idea what kind of problem is this. headbang.gif
Please help.

Hi joko; If I understand your question correctly, you're trying to put a 730 MB file
onto a 700 MB disc, and PlexTools is telling you that you can't do this.

Makes sense to me. Remember, the avi file on your hard drive is, in essense,
the "source" disc. The 700 MB blank is the "destination" disc.

EDIT: Ooops, sorry, somehow I missed the part where another program
accomplished this ok. My only guess would be that perhaps, PlexTools takes the
reported 730MB size and the destination (700MB) size literally, and is just trying
to save you a problem. In other words, its a more conservative program.

Just a thought. tongue.gif

in fact, PlexTools gives the same error with any image size ...
i've tried to write a 40Mb of mp3s on a 650Mb CD and it was all the same.... sad.gif
It gives this error even in simulation mode..with a 10Mb ISO image...
Could it be that the problem is with the IDE drivers,or that i use Adaptec's ASPI drivers for burnatonce ? blink.gif

I'd recommend to ask Plextor support. They're fast, good and free. You'll find phone numbers/email somewhere on their homepage.

I think the problem is that another recording software you have installed has an option checked to "Hide cdrom " or something similar, as such Plextools does not recognise the cdr as empty media, I know as it happened to me . Just go through your other burning software and check if anything similar is selected , the software causing the problem for me was Alcohol 120 but after deselecting this option , all my problems with Plextools were solved.

Yes!
I have Alcohol 120% installed on my system...hope this is the problem,I'll try it tonight when I go home and I'll post the results.
Thanx to all that replied rolleyes.gif

Yes I am sure that will be your problem, in Alcohol 120 , the offending option can be found under the Emulation menu and is a check box named
Ignore Media Type - This option will force all software to ignore whether the disc is CD-R etc.
Uncheck this and I am sure Plextools will run fine as long as another prog you have installed does not have the same type of option enabled.
joko_fu
Great!!! I unchecked Ignore Media Type in Alcohol 120% and now PlexTools works again. (w00t)
Thanx, superfly!
