I hope I thought of all possibilies... smile.gif

Personally, I listen to music with my stereo Hi-Fi speaker just because they sound good smile.gif and my ears do not get as tired as when I use headphones.

I'm especially interested why someone uses only Speakers or only Headphones (if someone does so smile.gif.

It should be or, not of tongue.gif

I use headphones only; they are more affordable for me than high quality speakers would be.

I actually have some speakers though. My hifi set is composed of very old gear, and I only use it to play in the background when friends are visiting. If I'd take the time to clean up the amp on the inside, it would make quite a good set I think. But I'm too lazy right now...

Well anyway, listening from my pc with headphones is more pleasing to me.

I can't use speakers late because of neighbours, and the stereo is good only if I sit in front of the computer and look at the screen.
But with headphones, I can't stand up and take a drink, a book, or anything else, I can't even rest on my bed, the cable is too short.
I use both for all.

95% of the time I use headphones to listen to music - that way people don't complain about how loud it is rolleyes.gif . I still like to use my hi-fi setup to listen to tracks though (I was doing it earlier today.) Really just depends what mood I'm in or what I'm doing.

Well, it's either cheap $20 headphones, or the laptop speakers, so definately the headphones, my 5 year old speakers that sometimes need to be hit, 2 speakers, cheap, sound like gold; after putting up with laptop speakers. Hell, anything sounds AWESOME after getting used to laptop speakers. I also have the privelage of hearing that wonderful little static that laptop integrated sound cards emit even when nothing is happening... how I got a 12/16 ABXing a normal song on that piece of crap with --alt preset extreme is beyond me...

Speakers: Logitech 560 THX
Headphones: Sony MDR-V6

I use mostly the Logi cuz headphones are uncomfortable when i move aobut my place.

I only use headphoens when ppl are around & i want piece and quiet ... or when studying

My dad gets after me for using headphones, he says they damage your hearing. Is that true? So its either cheap radioshack headphones or cheap altec lansing computer speakers with sbpci128. And I obsess over perfect cd rips and use mpc, lol

thx, I was too lazy yesterday to correct it smile.gif.

I yesterday recieved Sennheiser HD 600 headphones and it they sound very clear. Compared to my old Sony MDR-605 it is like heaven and hell *g*. My HiFi system has always been much better than the Sony headphones and so I always used it at home for testing codecs and for regular listening to music.

Due to the HD 600 things have changed. They are even a bit clearer than my HiFi system (btw. Sony TA-VA 777ES amp with Canton Karat M50DC speakers). I think I'll keep my habit listening with speakers because it is more easy. As I already posted, my ears don't get tired so fast.

I'm glad to say, that even the HD 600 cannot replace multichannel surround, so I did not waste money for my HiFi system smile.gif.

I get the best sound from my hifi speakers. The computer just has little ones that came with it,
so phones are better there. Senheiser cordless model lets me roam around the house.

On ear damage, the key may be that if you wear phones because people complain about running
the speakers too loud, then you may be running the phones even louder... so yes.
Pio2001
High end heaphones may be les harmful for hearing because they won't push the dreadful 4000 Hz range as loud as earplugs.
However, if you run them on a hifi ampli, the bass level can become dangerous too, because of the power available, that allows you to listen louder than on a computer soundcard or standalone headphone plug.

Those aren't bad. How much are they asking?

Have you looked at any of these:

http://www.mackie.com/record/hr624/index.html

http://www.alesis.com/products/m1active/index.html

I use the latter, because I do some mixing work and the Mackie's have far better bass than the majority of systems, and thus aren't representative of what most people will hear.

And to stay on topic, I use the aforementioned speakers and Sony MDR-V600 headphones. Both have served me quite well; now all I need to do is to get these damn clicks and pops out of my audio!

Where must I vote when I use head phones and a high quality 2.0 system for 2000 € ?

Where must I vote when I use head phones and a "Brüllwürfel" based 5.1 system for 50 € ?

yes.... I could have chosen more differences, but it would have ended up in mess if I had made more possiblities available. I was interested in knowing why someone uses only headphones or only speakers just because I myself was confronted to the decision what to choose. I think I'll use the speakers when my damned parents are away and turn them (the speakers) at a volume that would disturb neighbours biggrin.gif. Feeling music is cool *g*.

Has the word "Brüllwürfel" found its place in the English vocabulary?
manni
Usually I listen with speakers (JVC SP-D501T) but when I'm listening at night (neightbours not really like playing music at nigh) I use headphones (Sony MDR-CD170).
