Hope someonce can suggest solutions to my problem. I have ripped my CD collection using EAC, Lame and Monkey Audio. Quality was great until I began experiencing some computer problems that required taking the computer to the shop. Problem diagnosed as a bad memory chip and Win 98 was re-installed.

Now my old mp3s and even my .ape files sound like sh*t! low volumne with a lot of distortion. I can play the original CDs and they sound fine. I tried re-ripping, but even the .wav files taken right off using EAC have the same problem... any suggestions??

Thanks!

What happens if you burn an audio CD of the bad sounding files? I guess it sounds allright. It'd be a good idea to try some other sound drivers.
