Hello,

I'm looking for a software solution to index and create database for all my files.

My collections of files are around 3TB. They are messy and there are many duplicates. Many times I cannot find what I want and end up downloading them again. Since I have 6 external HDDs and I could not connect them to my laptop all the time, I am in need of a software that can tell me what files I already have and where I store them. I'm looking for something like foobar2000/iTunes for files; a software with ability to tag, add descriptions and categorize files, and be able to search them by key words.

Any recommendations?

I'm guessing you're on Windows so you could use one of the search tools. Google Desktop Search for instance. I know it's not everything you asked for, but it's part way there.

The best file manager is Total Commander.
