And remember if you add your associations in the future with ASSOC or regedit to tie the extensions to foobar2000.file... Of course, I suppose you won't be doing this unless you are authoring your own plug-ins.
I almost never use an installer if a .zip is offered - but it seems foobar2000 may need to be the exception now that I have learnt more about what the installer does in this case.
