Hi!

I wanted to share an experience I had with Firefox. The lesson to be learned is: Don't ever create a symbolic link in your Firefox cache directory that points to some other directory containing files you want to keep. It turns out Firefox follows symbolic links when it deems the cache to be too large and wants to delete files. This way I lost all my mp3s in my directory ~/Musik/neu.

Now, why would someone create a symbolic link in the firefox cache directory you might ask. Well, I tried to be overly smart. I noticed that when I used the integrated last.fm flash player all the mp3s stay in the Firefox Cache for a while. To make manual copying easier I created a symbolic link (shortcut) for the destination directory where I wanted to copy the good songs to. I thought this should save some typing.

I learned my lesson for today.

Cheers!
