Every tried Avantrix Audio CD Ripper (http://www.avantrix.com/audiocd.htm) ? It'sa freeware addon program to their Audio CD Maker (wich is not good). No cddb, no settings, just press one button to ripp your cd into wave faster than you can blink. Perfect in combination with for example RazorLAME.

no settings

What's the advantage of that?? And how about secure ripping?

Is this a troll? What the heck...

Don't know the Avantrix Audio CD Ripper beyond the remarkably sparse amount of information given on the web page.

Snowboy, suggest you read up on audio extraction. There are a lot of free rippers available that seem much better than this one (Exact Audio Copy [EAC], CDEx, DBPowerAmp [free?], etc.) I see no advantage that this has over any of these for example. I personally use EAC (check out EAC) and I understand the others mentioned are also quite good.

Search this forum and read up on these programs; ripping can be fairly complex if you want it done correctly. You need to worry about error correction, offsets, C2, cacheing.... And wouldn't you want some CDDB settings too - I wouldn't want to manually tag my files.

If you don't like slow ripping (I don't), check out Audiograbber. With a good CD-ROM, and a clean CD, you get perfect rips, and my TDK rips at 14-32X, start to finish respectively. That's as fast as any ripper's been able to go, but Audiograbber doesn't burp, doesn't blip, and I've never noticed anything but a perfect rip. It, however, is *not* free, unless you use the crippled version. Well worth the money, however, imho.

And, just to stem the flow of "exact copy" messages, yes it will give you the best rips your CD-ROM can give you, without using advanced ripping techniques (it should have secure ripping soon, but it's still in development), even if your CD is scratched or dirty. I would strongly suggest, however, that you rip your CD after you've made sure that it's as clean and scratchless as possible (don't use a disc doctor, though, they actually make things worse).

Hah, that's even better... no secure ripping, but you gotta pay for it. laugh.gif

(I admit it, i once used Audiograbber.. but that must be 5 years ago)

Gotta disagree. Used on over 50 cd's. Some that wouldn't even be recognized by any cd drive. I've been able to at least get them to a point where EAC can rip them.

@silver_cpu

Have you tried CDEX it's really fast in paranoia and it's FREE, not even free but FREE.

And by using paranoia you get that warm fuzzy feeling.

BTW it's highly unlikely that you hear any difference in a midly scratched disc since the difference will be only some samples.

If one, for whatever reason, wishes to rip in burst mode EAC can do that too. Why pay for something when you can have it for free?

With EAC set up properly, all you have to do is insert the CD and click the "MP3" button. It can't get any easier or cheaper.

Don't forget to sent your postcard to EAC author, it's not free ! A postcard is required user posted image

Not cheaper, but better burst mode: Feurio!
Burst mode with C2-errors reporting.
If no C2-errors, then perfect DAE.

I know only one excuse for wanting fast rips :
if you want to process a whole bunch of CDs (since in that case you are waiting to insert the next disk...)
For just ripping one or two CDs (as it usually happens), I guess no-one has the habit of sitting there in front of his pc and continuously staring at the screen untill the job is done wink.gif
Well in such case speed is totally irrelevant IMO tongue.gif

-Have a slow drive
-Just want a copy for one day playback
-Have the orginal copy
-Zero scatches on your source CD
- Going to covert it to 64kbps WMA
-You hate digital & wish you had a vinyl collection

I wasn't expecting a medal, just would have liked to know if he received it, that's all.
