I'm considering buying this mp3 player but there's no feedback on the web about it. Did anybody try it ? How is the sound quality ?

over at hifi-forum.de the newer line of Sony players is being recommended over and over...
they've got different features and storage capacity, but s/q seems to be very good for all models
by newer line I mean these (they all have this bigger screen and don't look like usb-flash drives)

Have they done any empirical testing to back up these claims such as RMAA tests? I am sure it's an excellent player all things aside, but it would help if such tests exist or have been conducted to get some idea (German is not my native tounge) wink.gif

While I cannot find them right now, I believe people have done RMAA tests when loaded with low impedance headphones and found the 6 and 8 series do not roll off bass frequencies.

I've read that the bass and treble bump you see in that RMAA test is actually a result of Sony's Factory EQ and not the inability of the amp to give a flat frequency response. Supposedly there is a service mode that allows you to flatten out that bump in the bass and treble.

On a more subjective note, the Sony NWZ 6 and 8 series sounds very good with low impdedance (tested with 25 ohms) headphones.

Thanks for your answers guys.
The NWZ-B series is also part of the newer line, it's just the cheapest model made to compete with iPod Shuffle.
So I would like to know if its sound quality is as good as the NWZ-A and S series.
