i relly wish to have ONE file for ONE album/CD.
but still be able ti skip traks like on a CD.

Is there a way to use the ogg container for that og maybe the mp4 container ?

I tried with the winamp archive plugin but it only supports one file in an archive.

i woudle be nice for an archive input plug that woudle support multiple file inside the archive.

then you could also keep the cue sheets inside the archieve for "perfect" backups

I think APE and APL will do this.

Have you tried the foobar2k archieve reader?

Encode to track1.ogg, track2.ogg, ...

then cat them all together into a single cd.ogg.

I doubt any player will handle this well, but it's, if I'm not mistaken, perfectly by Ogg Vorbis specs wink.gif

Edit: not-so-unexpectedly, fb2k handles this perfectly smile.gif

There is the MP3 cue plugin for Winamp : one image file (whatever format), and a second playlist under the main one displays the cue points and allows you to skip to them.

Is it possible to rip the whole cd as a wav, encoding it to .ogg and the put it in an .ogm container so each chapter is song of the album?

matroska container will allow you to do this, with minimal overhead, and for every supported audio codec. Even combining different tracks using different codecs into one file will be possible, as well as adding lyrics and album covers as attachement files.

Now, before anybody says the word 'vaporware' again, we have .mka files with Vorbis, AC3, MP3 and MP2 already, and they play fine on Linux, just the DShow parser is not ready yet sad.gif ....

I tried this using the copy /b windows command and a cygwin compile of cat (is there any native windows version of this) and foobar only displays 1 track with a very high bitrate!! I can seek to the end of the first file and then it stops.

Is there any special setup i need to perform?

Yours Gratefully,
