Full Version: Playback when using Nero

When I am recording any cd using Nero Burning ROM (5.5.10.7) I am almost unable to play mp3/ogg/radio in the background on my SB Live! 5.1 (with directsound or waveout, it doesn't matter; also sound performance settings in the windows control panel don't change anything). "Unable", because all the music is slowered a little bit (by some 15-20%) and is constantly clicking, for no reason. "Almost", because the only solution I found is to switch to kernel streaming -- suddenly all the clicking&slowering problems disappear. I have the latest SB drivers, Windows XP SP 1, Winamp 2.8something, WMP9. I have no idea how could I solve this problem -- and you? I'd appreciate every hint, since I am completely out of ideas.

Try to enable the DMA on your system. To do this go to Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager->IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers->Secondary IDE Channel->Advanced Settings.

If it happens in WindowsXP, but not in Win98/ME it's probably the same thing we suffer a lot of people.
Check this thread:

Apart from that, check that DMA is enabled.
