I have a CD that I have no idea who the artist is or the title of the CD. I can come up with a few song names on the CD because they are remakes from other artists. Can anyone tell me how I might find out the artist or CD title. I tried to using Find Album Info on Windows Media Player, and using FReeDB in EAC but no luck.

You could try the tagging feature in foobar2000.

I downloaded Foobar 2000 but I don't find a tagging feature.

I downloaded Foobar 2000 but I don't find a tagging feature.

General remark: use the context menu. Nearly all features of this program can be found by right-clicking on the right object.

For "tagging" feature: Re-run the installer and be sure to select the "freedb Tagger" option in the "choose components" step. After setup has finished, open the CD in foobar2000 (File > Open Audio-CD). Mark the tracks in the playlist, activate the fabulous context menu and navigate to "Get tags from freedb" (normally under Tagging, but the context menu is configurable, so it might be anywhere). If it is commercially available CD, chances are high that it will be recognised.

If you were using foobar you could also add the MusicBrainz component to check both (freedb and MusicBrainz) databases.

Alternatively, IIRC MP3Tag can retrieve tags from multiple sources.

Couldn't you just read the label on the CD?

I'd agree that a freedb tagging component (which uses the CD's table of contents - exact track lengths etc - to identify it) is usually best - assuming it's a commerically released CD not a home-made compilation you're trying to identify.

Unless it's a very rare artist, there's a good chance that Tunatic (recording via microphone or preferably recording your soundcard output via loopback) would identify the track title and artist for any track that is playing. It has worked for me on all but a percent or two of times I've tried it. It's also useful for identifying music heard via various media and seems fairly immune to typical audio processing you or a radio station might perform.

Well nothing that has been suggested has worked. What helped a great deal was a friends iphone, he had Shazam on it we played the Cd into the phone and it gave us most of the songs, artists performing them, and albums the songs were on. Turns out it is a compilation disc of mostly cover songs (thats pretty cool that it could identify the song, artist, and cd; especially since they were mostly cover songs). From there I searched on google and CDnow and found out all the CDs these songs came off were under the House of Blues Label. I still don't have the name of the particular CD I have but I'm alot closer. Thanks for all the help.
